Ok! It is done!! I underwent the minimally invasive SI joint fusion at Medical City Alliance Surgery Center with Dr. Braaksma today 10/17/2024. It took me 1.5 years to commit to this.

It is amazing that my surgeon sends me home with instructions for full weight bearing. I am just not quite there yet, and I am using a crutch (from prior surgeries) until the pain improves. However, I do think it will be a quick recovery. My hip already feels more stable, so hopefully my chronic pain will improve.

My surgeon prescribed multimodal pain medications (tramadol, OxyContin, Valium), and of course a stool softener. I continue to take my 1g Tylenol and 300 mg Gabapentin as needed. Interestingly, they had me take Delsym 2 hours preop to help with nerve pain! I also start a steroid dose pack tomorrow (POD#1). I used ice at least every hour.
I was able to nap for 2 hours in the afternoon after the first Valium. but now I am wide awake with constant aching pain. I think walking around about 100 feet this evening exacerbated the surgical site. Back to the crutch then!

Thank you again to those who have been cheering me on through this journey of chronic pain due to a defective hip related to hyper flexibility/connective tissue disorder. I will keep you all updated on my progress.
